Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 (abbreviated as COD: BO4, or sometimes COD: BlOps4) is a first-person shooter developed by Treyarch and published by Activision. The game is a sequel to the 2015 game Call of Duty: Black Ops III, released on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 12, 2018. It replaced Call of Duty: WWII as the competitive Call of Duty game for the 2018-2019 Call of Duty esports season, and was succeeded by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
Unlike previous games in the Call of Duty series, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is the first title to not feature a traditional single-player campaign; it will only contain multiplayer, including a new Battle Royale mode called "Blackout".
