Expanding Country Data And New Optimizations

I'm pleased to announced an expansion to the country data is now online, as well as several optimizations to the site.

"Data With Issues" Is Now Online

I implemented a new feature to help manage data entries and detect issues with them.

Updated Discord Invite Link

I've updated the Discord invite link to allow more people to join. (invite link inside)

The Problem With Influencers Negatively Affecting the Arena FPS Community & How Diabotical Will Revive Arena Shooters

Arena FPS players are well in their 30s, modding tools are restrictive or scarce, and interest in the genre amongst the younger generation of gamers is minimal. Why did the popularity of Arena FPS drop off? What's preventing Arena FPS from growing again, and how do we get back there with the release of Diabotical?

Esports Earnings now has a Discord channel

As suggested by tmv23, I created a Discord channel for the site. (invite link inside)

Esports Earnings / Let's Play Index Update 2020

This is a 2020 update video for Esports Earnings and Let's Play Index, two web projects that I've been working on for years. I'm here to let you know what's been going on with these projects, the new server rack with 13 servers, the problems I overcame with it, and where I'll be taking these projects going forward.

I'll also talk about what I've been experiencing in the industry over the years, plans for funding the projects outside of venture capital and investors, plans for supporting Diabotical and the arena FPS community, why I stopped making game reviews, and what I'll be doing with this YouTube channel.

The Real Problems With Halo Esports & Why Competitive Halo Will Never Grow

Major Halo tournaments struggle to attract viewers, and the events themselves are few and far between. So what happened? Competitive Halo fans will point to the Halo: Reach and Halo 4 as the cause of the decline of Halo esports. But is it really? Or is there something else they aren't seeing?

Articles Will Now Be Written For Esports Earnings

A new feature has now been implemented into the site, but it's more of a personal feature than something for the Development Area. Articles will now be written for the site to further add to its content.

Recent Changes History Is Now Accessable

Contributors will now have access to a list of recent changes made to the data on the site. You will now be able to see what has been modified and by whom. This is a quality-of-life update to help you navigate back to your recent modifications to the site, as well as check out the changes made by other contributors very quickly.

Recycle Bin Functionality Online

I hope all of you have a good start to the new year! Contributors will now have access to the recycle bin. This feature will allow inactive modifications to the site's data to be removed or re-assigned to someone else. This serves to address an issue where contributors - mainly new contributors - send an existing tournament or player to the Development Area to be modified, only to never touch it ever again and prevent anyone else from making changes.

Archives Are Now Accessible

Contributors will now have access to archived revisions of all data on the site. Somewhat similar to the revision history on websites like Wikipedia, this will allow you to revert back to an older version of data to undo a mistake or a malicious attack on the data with ease.

Update To The Image Entry System

Contributors will now be able to add logos for leagues, events, tournaments, and teams. As mentioned before, game images and player photos will continue to be restricted due to formatting and copyright requirements.

New Image Entry System

Contributors will now be able to add logos to the site. This is one of the many requested features from years ago, and although the image selection process is - admittingly - a bit crude, this functionality is now in a state that can be rolled out and used.

QoL Additions and Bug Fixes

I've added a new quality-of-life feature to the tournament form. The player selection pop-up will now display two different lists before you search for players: "Top Game Earnings" shows the top 25 highest earning players in the selected game for the tournament, and "Last Selections" shows the last 25 players selected for the selected game by the contributor.

Happy New Year and Welcome To The New Server Environment!

It's a brand new year and it's been at least a week since I had to restart any services, so I guess it's safe to say that everything is now running stable. Esports Earnings (formerly "e-Sports Earnings") is now operating in a new server environment, with more powerful hardware at its disposal and a new software foundation on which new features will be built upon. This is the cumulation of over a year's worth of learning, designing, implementing, testing, and avoiding social media like the plague.
